An MP petitions the police chief over a death in Keta custody
The Keta legislator formally asked the Inspector-General of Police to investigate a death at the divisional headquarters.

Keta's Member of Parliament, Kwame Gakpe, petitioned the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the death of Jerry Kpesenu at the Keta Divisional Police headquarters, the Ghana News Agency reported.
It usually takes a public figure to move a custody death beyond the station that caused it. Most families have no such advocate.
A functioning system would not need a petition: every death in custody would automatically go to an independent investigator, with the result published.
