Amnesty's Ghana review: attacks on journalists, FGM, and witchcraft accusations persist
The annual assessment lists attacks on journalists, continued female genital mutilation, and threats to accused women's rights to life and health.

Amnesty International's country review for Ghana records that attacks against journalists continued, that female genital mutilation was still practised despite being illegal, and that accusations of witchcraft continued to threaten women's rights to life and health. It also flagged the reintroduction of the 'family values' bill.
Read together, these are not unrelated items. They describe a country where the law on paper is often ahead of the law in practice, and where enforcement depends on who the victim is.
We use these annual reviews as a baseline, then add the cases from Accra and beyond that never reach an international report.
