A radio reporter is assaulted at a party headquarters in Accra

About fifteen people attacked Cape FM's David Kobbena while he covered an event at the governing party's office.

4 January 2024

The Committee to Protect Journalists reported that around fifteen people, several wearing party-branded shirts, assaulted Cape FM reporter David Kobbena at the governing party's Accra headquarters and called for an investigation.

Attacks by party operatives are the most common form of violence against Ghanaian journalists, and the least likely to end in a prosecution.

CPJ documented a cluster of such attacks in the run-up to the 2024 elections; Al Jazeera described the period as a season of intimidation.
