A Kumasi broadcaster is arrested under the 'false news' section
Oheneba Nana Asiedu was charged under section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act.

Citi News reported the arrest of Wontumi FM presenter Oheneba Nana Asiedu on a charge of publishing false news under section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act.
Section 208 criminalises publishing a statement likely to cause fear or alarm to the public. It is written broadly enough to reach almost any contested claim, and it is used against broadcasters, bloggers and ordinary Facebook users.
In 2025 a journalist was granted bail on a similar charge over claims about a helicopter crash, with the prosecution continuing.
