One health worker for a whole community
Reporting found a CHPS compound staffed by a single worker, and a warning that 44% of community facilities lack basic requirements.
20 May 2026

The Ghana News Agency reported that the CHPS compound at Manso Aboaboso was operating with only one health worker. A public health researcher separately warned that 44 per cent of community health facilities lack the basic requirements to operate.
CHPS compounds are the first and often only point of care for rural communities, including for antenatal care and childhood immunisation.
National maternal health survey data shows the regional disparities that follow from this staffing pattern.
