Ten years of the Persons with Disability Act, and buildings still have no ramps

Ghana's Persons with Disability Act promised accessible public buildings and services, with a transition period that has long expired. Many courts, clinics, schools and district offices remain physically inaccessible, and information is rarely provided in accessible formats.

Inaccessibility is a rights issue with a chain of consequences: a person who cannot enter a police station cannot file a complaint, and a person who cannot enter a court cannot bring a case.

We are collecting reports of specific inaccessible public facilities in Greater Accra so that the problem can be named building by building rather than in the abstract.
